Well I waited as long I could before I jumped out there to declare - SPRING has arrived! Yes, my flowers are blooming, my closet is changed over and most importantly I am cultivating new dreams, ideas and strategies for the future.
As I have shared in the past, the bounty of any harvest is tied to the seeds planted, AND the care given. When it comes to my goals, I fertilize my thoughts and strategies with books by numerous thought leaders whose research and opinions feed my soul, fuel my ambitions and encourage me to continue to follow the winding path of my dreams.
I endorse the power of a great personal library and encourage all I know to have one. Whether you are looking for your starter collection or adding to an existing theme, here are a few of my favorites that I consult perennially for wisdom and perspective.
Full disclaimer: I am NOT paid to endorse any of these books - I truly have been blessed by them and share how:
The Bible - I have a growing compilation of scriptures that I commit to memory for my travels through life's peaks and valleys.
Millionaire Moves by Dr. William Pickard - Dr. Pickard distills the blueprint for success down to seven salient principles. This book is an easy read with some valuable insights.
The Right Questions by Debbie Ford - This book was recommended by life coach and best friend Coach Kathy (www.coachkathywilson.com) when one of our sessions reduced me to tears of frustration. It reminded me that I don't have to do everything, just the right things, to be happy.
Oh the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss - It is my belief that simplicity is the key to happiness and Dr. Seuss captures the travails of life in this one book.
You are a BADASS - How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero - this is the BEST book ever if you are really down on yourself, losing sight of your dreams or just need a boost!
The Courage to Be Rich - Creating a Life of Material and Spiritual Abundance by Suze Orman - I like Suze because she ties things together in on neat, but applicable package. I am focused on wealth accumulation so I refer to this book often.
The 21 Most Powerful Minutes in a Leader's Day by Dr. John Maxwell - Dr. Maxwell is an expert at identifying and interpreting the intersection between God and life. I especially liked the definition of "Inner Circle Qualities".
David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell - I recommend anything by Gladwell but this book resonated with me because I read it while deciding on leaving my previous career. I was inspired by the stories he told and the perspective they provided.
Essentialism by Greg McKeown - I first heard of this book on the Steve Harvey Show as Steve shared its influence on how he began to make decisions once he became wealthy. It confirms that understanding the essential factors in your decisions is key to making good ones. This is a good read.
The University of Success by OG Mandino - I love a good compilation and this one hits many different viewpoints on success on the head. Each "semester" provides a unique perspective.
The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer - I first discovered Dr. Dyer on PBS and developed a deep admiration for his spirit, message and communication style. I turned to this specific book after a discussion with Coach Kathy about the power of ego on our lives. Specifically, I found his "seven steps to overcoming ego's hold on you" Incredibly insightful.
I plan to share more books from my garden as we grow together. I am always looking for new seeds to plant so please send me some of your favorite book titles to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This I know for certain - whatever is growing in your life comes from the seeds that you planted. I pray that you have a life garden overflowing with joy, love, enthusiasm and above all FUN!
- Peace and blessings from the Queen of Badassery
